Supporting the Community

With a company that’s been around for as long as H.M.Williams, we’ve got to know many of the local businesses and charities around us over the years, as well as the people that run them. And as we’ve grown, we’ve always made a point of trying to do something that makes a difference in some way – big or small.

How do H.M.Williams help?

Every year, we have a chosen local charity that we give all our support to and it’s always one that we have a strong connection with or a personal reason to support. That’s why you’ll find charity boxes in the office (your small change is always welcome!) while many of us take part in various activities, with differing levels of success, to help raise money for them.

H.M.Williams is also a proud corporate partner of The Cream Tea Club – a series of informal events around the South West, where local businesses can network over an actual cream tea – if there’s a better way to network than this, we haven’t found it yet. But as a partner, we’re there to provide advice and support, as well as contribute with specialist business workshops throughout the year.

We’re also a regular sponsor of the LightUp Plympton event each year with the Christmas lights switch on as part of Plympton Chamber’s Christmas on the Ridgeway festivities.

And outside the office?

Beyond the offices of H.M.Williams, our company Director, Ashley Smith is also involved with several local charitable organisations. While he’s getting up to all sorts as a member of the Plymouth Round Table, helping to raise around £12,000 a year for local charities, he’s also flexing his financial know-how as Treasurer for the Plympton Chamber of Commerce.

He’s also a Trustee of First Light – a Plymouth-based registered charity giving support to thousands of people across Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly who are affected by Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence each year.

Supporting our local community is important to us, both as a company and individually. And getting involved is our way of making sure we give something back.
